1. Start with one main choice

Begin with a surface or colour already chosen for the room. It could be the floor, cabinets or doors. Compare stone samples beside it.

You do not need every surface to match. A simple mix of calm colours and one strong pattern can work well.

2. Think about the whole floor

A small sample can look quiet, while a large floor shows much more pattern. Look at several pieces together. Think about the direction of the lines and where the joints will be.

Ask your installer about the finish, especially where water or dust may be present.

3. Look at the stairs together

Compare the step tops, upright faces, edges and nearby floor as one group. A simple design is often easier to match.

Your installer should check the step sizes, safe edges, support and surface finish. A design image cannot confirm that a stair detail is safe.

4. Plan the kitchen counter

Compare the stone with the cabinets, sink and wall finish. Think about cooking, spills and daily cleaning too.

Discuss the actual stone, joints, openings and support with the installer before making the final choice.

Take this with you

Match the look, then check the material, finish and installation.

General educational guidance. Discuss the actual material, finish and installation with a suitable supplier or installer for your project.
